John Jefferis: Awards Are Only Bonus

Getting an award is a testament that a person has worked hard in his chosen craft

. Everyone does not get the opportunity to be recognized in their field of expertise. Obtaining one would be enough but if someone have already garnered so many, that person is definitely the best.

In the hotel industry, one of the names that stand out is John Jefferis. Jefferis is a graduate from Birmingham University (Birmingham, England) and Cornell University (Ithaca, New York). While in Birmingham, he was named as the Top Final Year Management Student of the Hotel and Catering Institute. His excellent education coming from these two famous schools certainly contributed to what he is today, a successful and award-winning hotelier and entrepreneur.

The success of John Jefferis in the hotel business can be attributed to his innovative ways, hard work, friendly attitude and his desire to give customers the satisfaction they need. According to Jefferis, the awards he obtained through the years are only an added bonus in his goal of providing customers with only the best service. He said that the true award is when people checks out of their hotel with a smile on their face. This, according to Jefferis, is more than enough.

In talking about the awards Jefferis achieved, it includes being named as the Caribbean Hotelier of the Year in 1990. During that time, he was managing the Elbow Beach Hotel. Before getting the recognition in Caribbean, Jefferis was first a Hotelier of the Year awardee of Bermuda in 1989. Due to his outstanding work in his CoCo Reef Tobago, it was voted as the Caribbean Dream Resort of the Year in 1999. A year later, he was recognized once again due to his incredible achievements as an entrepreneur. He won the Caribbean Entrepreneur of the Year Award which was sponsored by the Ernst and Young.

Another award of Jefferis came in 2006 where he was a recipient of the Premier Hotelier of the Caribbean Award. His CoCo Reef Tobago hotel was once again recognized in 2009 when it was selected as the Best Resort in the Caribbean.

John Jefferis is not the only one recognized in the hotel industry. His hotels are also given recognitions due to its outstanding services. One of the reasons for it is because of Jefferis. If not for his ways, CoCo Reef Tobago and CoCo Reef Bermuda would just be another hotel.
