John Lennon was one of the founding members of The Beatles; one of the first boy bands' in the UK and part of one of the most successful song writing partnerships ever seen. He was shot in 1980, three weeks after the release of his last album. Their famous works include "Hey Jude", "Lucy in the sky with diamonds", "I get by with a little help from my friends", "strawberry fields" and many more. John Lennon went on to release his own music including hits like "imagine". He was killed by a manic fan in New York in October 1980, shot in the back at the entrance to his apartment. His ashes were scattered over Central Park, and the Strawberry Fields memorial was later created there in his memory.

Lennon is still a massive cult icon, especially in Liverpool and the UK, so it comes as no surprise that his first car, a blue Ferrari purchased after he passed his driving test, is expected to sell for as much as one hundred and fifty thousand pounds at auction.

Bonhams, the famous auction house is set to auction the car off on the fifth of February 2011 to a plethora of Beatles enthusiasts from all over the world.

When Lennon passed his driving test he was offered a selection of amazing cars but chose the Ferrari 30 GT 2+2 Coupe, paying around two thousand pounds. The cars worth has exploded in value thanks to both Beatles and car enthusiasts, and someone will pick up a great piece of history here.

John Lennon went on to drive his now famous psychedelic Rolls Royce and a mini as he got older. The whereabouts of these vehicles are not known.

It is thought that whoever purchases the vehicle will keep it only as a collector's item, as it is in such good condition and would cost a fortune to obtain Car Insurance for, which is a requirement if purchased and exported back to the UK, where it belongs.
