Deck Officer

The Deck Officer has skills in all aspects of the Navigation of ships, cargo handling operations and storage, ship stability, ship maneuvering and ship management.

Captain: Also known as the master, this person is in charge of the ship and is fully responsible for the entire crew (not just the deck officers).

Chief Officer: This is the first mate position. The chief officer is in charge of the deck team, and also maintains the cargo hold and supplies.

Second Officer: The second officer on a ship is next in command There will also usually be a third officer and sometimes there are even more, depending on how big the ship is. These officers take care of the safety of the crew and also have responsibilities like navigating, radio maintenance, cargo control, and equipment maintenance and repair.

How to Join

Candidates must be 10+2 PCM in addition he/she must meet requirement and clear one of the following entrance test.1. IMU Test conducted by Indian Maritime University. 2. IIT ( Indian Institute of Technology). If you clear IIT entrance test or in extended list. 3. 10+2(PCM min 60% marks + English min 50%marks). Entrance test of approved Nautical Institute.

Engine officer :

Engine officers mainly deal with the maintenance of various kinds of machineries found on board ships. In general, the positions of the engineer officers follow the same flow as the deck officers, with a chief engineer, a second officer, and so on down to the engineer officer trainee or apprentice. This team is responsible for all of the electrical and mechanical happenings on the ship.

How to Join

To join as Engine Officers candidate must meet one of the following criteria.1. 10+2( PCM min 60% + English min 50% marks) -Qualify IMU CET or Extended list in IIT JEE or Qualify any marine Engineering College Entrance test.2. Graduate in Mechanical Engineering ( min 60% marks). You must complete Sea training in DG approved institute.3. Two year diploma in Mechanical Engineering ( min 60% marks). You must complete Sea Training in DG approved institute.
