Join The Sand Castle Mania

Holidays in Europe tend to be aimed around the shores of the Mediterranean Sea as

they offer the easiest and, more often than not, cheapest destinations to travel to. If you where to offer me the views of the smelly old Mediterranean Sea or the exotic and picturesque Atlantic Ocean I know which one I'm choosing. Albufeira is a place we are all familiar with located along the south coast of Portugal in the popular summer region of the Algarve, a place which has a great reputation with holidaymakers. Albufeira often gives off the vibe of a quiet family destination, but in truth you can enjoy practically any holiday you want to here.

Of course the reasons for travelling to Albufeira could be anything, but I know deep down that is the sand castle building which tips most people's votes. The fine, clean golden sands of Albufeira shores will allow you to construct the most magnificent structures. You know what it's like when you head down to the beach with the kids and start the foundations of a moat before heading onto castle itself, gradually limiting the involvement of your son or daughter out of fear. Soon you will realise that about half a dozen dads on the same beach are doing the same thing, it them becomes a challenge to build the finest sand castle. Mothers look on in disgust as the playful activity becomes an obsession.

Those who haven't travelled for the ritual building of sand castles have plenty of other things to keep them entertained. The area is packed with various outlets for activity aside from around the beach, plus there are plenty of nearby purpose built resorts which have typical attractions for tourists to enjoy. Evenings are just as entertaining depending on what you are looking for. The restaurants are top notch and you will be able to enjoy a good meal for a good price. Bars and clubs are there to be enjoyed with various options available to suit all tastes.

Sure Albufeira isn't the only place you can choose from along Portugal's south coast, but it's easily the best. You could spend hours looking through the various resorts on offer which fill the Algarve, but when it comes to fun in the sun as well as plenty to do on the evening Albufeira is your best choice. Don't tell me you can resist the image of the sun setting far out on the Atlantic Ocean.
