Jolicloud Jolibook Review

Now that the Jolicloud Jolibook is available in the UK,the Jolicloud Jolibook is sound like a made-up device ever since the pictures of it started to leak out.

Lid of the Jolicloud Jolibook

The lid of the Jolicloud Jolibook obviously comes down to personal preference, maybe it looks a bit childish. The netbook is more aimed for the younger user which explains the design of the lid.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The Jolicloud Jolibook`s keyboard is reminiscent of those on ASUS' netbooks, The raised, plastic keys are well spaced, and while the layout is still a bit cramped, insure you type few typos, but the right and left Shift keys are shrunken.

Similarly, the touchpad is also reminiscent of those on ASUS' netbooks, the small bumps is still mightly comfortable on the index finger and the pad is flush with the palm rest.

Operating systerm

The Jolibook operating systerm is different from the other Windows 7 Starter netbooks. It is ideal for underpowered systems and is a breeze on the netbook, which is powered by a 1.66GHz dual-core Atom N550 processer, and 1GB of RAM. Overall, it's a very user friendly operating system and extremely simple to master.

Performance and Battery Life

The Jolicloud was built for underpowered systens,it has 1.66GHz dual-core Atom N550 processor and 1GB of RAM. Jolicloud went with a 5,400rpm, 250GB hard drive instead of a smaller, faster solid state drive, which is nice for storing more local files, but it's a bit odd since chances are most of your files will live in the Cloud here.

So ,it not really that bulging 48Wh six-cell battery provide some serious cord-free runtime,by the test, the Jolibook can ran for four hours and 46 minutes under the same standard definition video at 65 percent brightness.

Conclusion

The hardware is pretty much par for the course, although the touchpad and display could be better and the 48Whr will only offer around 5 hours of run time. The operating system is user-friendly, easy to use, and works well for anyone who runs a lot of web-based apps, but wants to be able to run offline apps as well (which Google's upcoming Chrome OS won't support).

In other words maybe it can't see a lot of reasons to buy the Jolibook instead of simply buying a cheap Windows or Linux netbook and downloading and installing the free Jolicloud OS on your own. But if you really want the colorful lid, or don't feel comfortable installing operating systems on your own, I guess the Jolibook might be attractive.
