My sister was one of the first people I know that was fascinated by computers and
quite early on she decided that she wished to follow a career in the computer industry. My parents supported her fully and when she graduated with honours from Manchester University, we were all very proud of her. She found a good job almost immediately and from then she went from strength to strength in her field and now she is one of the most sought after people in her line of work, flying around the world and yet still being the same wonderfully grounded person she has always been.
The reason I am a being vague about her field of expertise, is that I am the total opposite of her in terms of computer knowledge and have only just started to use the internet for shopping! I know that she has explained her job to be more than once but for some reason every time I think that I have grasped it, and I do get it generally, I still cannot describe it to someone else.
I have only recently started to use the internet for work as well as for shopping and playing games and I remember something which my sister once said. She said that once you use computers for work it is easy to forget that there is a whole other world out there that you can use for enjoying and spending your free time and I have found out that she was correct.
I have to now consciously make the effort to spend some time just browsing the internet and trying out different sites and then following links to even further sites which sound interesting. I have now gotten into the habit of spending an hour every now and then just typing in various words which interest me and then see where they lead me. In this way I have learned a lot of new things and have broadened my knowledge and vocabulary.
The thing which I asked my sister was about why certain websites were always at the top of the results page of the search engines findings? This is when she explained about web SEO services and the way that they work.
She told me that these SEO services were available to customers with a website to promote and their job was to raise the profile of the clients website with the help of SEO experts and SEO consultants.These people were in charge of increasing the traffic flow to a certain website. This is because increased traffic means an increase in revenue for the client. This is due to the fact that every time a person uses a website, they are a potential customer. It was the job of these SEO experts to make sure that their clients website appeared at the top of the results page in the search engine, as most people will only check out the first couple of sites.
