The problem is though; businesses are cutting back on staff which means a lot of basic health and safety techniques are being ignored. They are not complying with regulations and are making the work place a dangerous place to be.

No matter how you managed to get a job, there is not reason why you should feel unsafe in the work place. What you need to do is stand up and speak to the manager about the problems you can see in the work place. They have no choice but to listen to you when it comes to safety in the work place.

The first thing you should mention is that the work place should be clean. Employees should be forced to wash their hands regularly and the work surfaces should always be clean. These are not particularly difficult tasks, but they are tasks that will benefit everyone that works there. The best thing about this is that it will only take a few minutes today and will reduce the risk of people in the work place picking up and passing on illnesses.

#2 Using Equipment Provided

Are you the one that is not being safe? Sometimes work places will have plenty of safety precautions in place, but it will be the employee that is not following procedures. If there is a procedure in place designed to increase safety, and then follow it. Similarly, if you can see there is safety equipment on offer, then use that as well. All of these things will decrease the risk of picking up an injury in the work place.

#3 Keep Tidy

One of the main causes of injury in the work place is due to trips and falls. People pile stuff around their work area or desk, not realizing they have created a hazard. Whilst they might know where the boxes or papers they have placed are, other people might not. A simple tidy up will reduce the chance of you and other getting an injury.
