Keeping Acne and other Skin Problems Away

Keeping Acne and other Skin Problems Away

You've probably spent your whole life hearing about how good washing your face is for you. Hardly anybody actually likes to wash their face at the end of the day and it is something that many of us forget to do. When all you want to do is go to sleep, washing your face is a huge pain in the...you know what--even if you can still remember your puberty years like they just finished happening. Unfortunately, washing your face is the only way to keep dirt and other things from getting into your skin and clogging your pores. Are you prepared to be the only adult you know who still fights acne every day? Here is what you need to do to keep your pores free and clear.

Keep your hair away from your face.

All day long your hair follicles produce oil which makes its way into your hair and then, if you are not careful, onto your face and into your pores. If you have long hair that gets in your face or bangs that rest against your forehead for most of the day you could transfer that oil to your pores, which will then get clogged and produce pimples and acne. We understand the appeal of long hair and bangs, but it is better to keep your hair off of your face. Braids, ponytails and headbands are the easiest ways to keep hair away from your face. Your face and skin will be so happy!

When you are prone to severe acne breakouts, you need to search for a strong cleanser that contains ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. These cleansers are stronger and are usually created specifically to take care of hard to fight acne. These cleansers are strong enough to damage faces who are not set up to accommodate them so, if your acne is not severe, you should choose something more gentle. When you suffer from extreme acne issues, though, strong cleansers with these ingredients might be just what you need to break through the clogs and clean out your pores.

Do not, under any circumstances, pick at pimples or zits when they occur! Acne needs to be left alone to heal. If you do not leave your pimples alone they won't heal correctly. Cleaning your face-even when you are broken out-is perfectly acceptable but keep those fingers off of your acne the rest of the time! Yes they will take a few days to heal naturally. What would your rather have happen? A few days with a pimple or years and years of acne scars? One of the best ways to treat acne breakouts is to simply stick to the basics: wash your face and keep your hands to yourself. Once in a while the basic cleanser is not enough and you need to use a product that is a little bit harsher. You should be happy to know that while acne does not discriminate against age, neither do acne fighting agents-you should be able to find something to cure your breakout no matter what your number is.
