When you have kids in your home you have to make sure that you are taking the time to understand how you will protect your carpet
. As you protect your carpet you will be able to save money cleaning and replacing the carpet.
First, you want to make sure that everyone knows that they are not to wear shoes in your home. There are many different signs of postings that you can put up in your entry way to ensure that no one wears shoes on your carpet.
When you require people to take their shoes off, you should have an area that they can store them. Many people also like to have an area that will allow individuals to sit down so they are able to take of their shoes easily.
As you are having people take off their shoes in your home you will dramatically decrease the amount of dirt that is tracked in from outside. Many people do not understand how much dirt comes in on the bottom of people's shoes.
Making sure that this rule applies to all that come into your house is important. You do not want your children to feel that you are hypocritical with this rule by allowing others that enter into the house to keep their shoes on even when they are walking on your carpet.
Second, even when kids are running around in socks you may have dirt being tracked into your home. There are many children that will run outside when they are in their socks and then bring that dirt back inside.
Instead of telling the children that they can only run around in socks let them know the purpose behind your rules. When they understand that you are trying to decrease the amount of dirt that is tracked inside you may be surprised at how good they become at keeping the rules.
Often times, they will just need to understand the rule more fully. With the understanding that they are taking their shoes off to decrease the dirt so that the carpet is more clean you may be much more successful.
Third, you should be vacuuming your floors on a consistent basis. There are many people that do not understand how important this step is to ensuring that their carpet will last a long time and will stay presentable.
As you are vacuuming your carpets you want to take the time to make a schedule for yourself. Some families will vacuum the carpet once a week while others will vacuum at least twice a week.
Understand how much dirt will be brought into your home so that you have a better knowledge of how you are going to keep the carpet clean. With an understanding of how often you have to vacuum you will be able to better understand how long you should go between cleanings.
Each time that you vacuum you want to make sure you get all of the carpet. This means, you will have to move furniture and other objects that are placed on the floor so that you can reach each of the carpet fibers.
Sometimes you may not have time to move all of the furniture. When this occurs, you will want to take the time to make a note to yourself that the next time you vacuum you will need to move the furniture in this room.
Fourth, you want to be having your carpets cleaned on a regular basis. This means, you may want to make a standing appointment with your carpet cleaner so that you are sure your carpets will be cleaned on schedule.
There are some people that will wait until their carpet is noticeably dirty. This means, that dirt and stains have probably settled in the carpet and will be much more difficult, if not impossible, to remove.
Instead of waiting until you can see the dirt, make sure that you have the carpets cleaned on a regular basis. This will ensure that the carpet cleaning will be effective and will keep your carpets looking and feeling clean.
When you do notice a stain or dirt, make sure that you take care of it as soon as possible. The longer that it sits on or in your carpet the harder it will be to remove and the more time and effort you will have to spend on the carpet.
As you take the time to understand how you are going to keep your carpet clean you will save a lot of time and money.
