The working set-up BPO companies have recently gathered a lot of criticism regarding their contribution to the physical health of the employees. What makes BPO workplaces different and more prone to criticisms compared to traditional companies is mainly their working hours, management system, and work nature.

Almost all BPO companies require some employees to work on unconventional working schedule, or more popularly termed as the graveyard shift'. Apparently, this makes some employees more vulnerable to various diseases because of the drastic changes in their body clock. Right amount of sleep is still very important in keeping the body up and healthy. Another health risk factor, is the physical set-up of these companies. In most cases, employees are only separated by a small cubicle wall, compared to other companies that are more spacious. With this, diseases can spread faster. Finally, jobs in BPO companies cannot survive without computers. Virtual workers will basically have to face a computer monitor for at least 8 hours.

With these basic set-up, it is apparent that owners of BPO companies owe their employees all the possible ways to prevent them from getting sick, knowing that the workforce is the main asset of these kind of companies. While it is impossible to put a halt on graveyard schedule, the company can at least make a compromise with the health conditions of the employees by offering free vitamins, lounge area where the employees can take a quick break from facing the computer, and even a cafeteria that serves healthy food 24 hours a day. These small steps can provide long-term, positive health impacts Most importantly, a BPO company should also have attractive health benefits for the employees, especially because their health is their major capital for the kind of job that they have.

BPO Companies greatly depend on its virtual employees for its success and productivity, that's why the health of the employees should also be part of their investments
