Keeping Hydrated, Keeping Healthy

It is a well known fact that we need water to survive and most people who are able to have some water daily

. What many may not realise is that a significant amount of the population may be dehydrated without even realising it.

A survey, commissioned by the Expert Group on Hydration that found that 62% of the population are not drinking the suggested amount of water and by not doing so, they are putting themselves and their bodies through needless discomfort. A doctor within the expert group, Doctor Stillman has said that "Being thirsty is a sign that you are already getting dehydrated-no one should wait that long."

The common recommendation is that we should drink at least two litres of water per day; this has been backed by some sensible scientific policies as a solid grounding for water consumption. "It is important to remember that all kinds of drinks, including bottled water, squash, fruit juices or tea and coffee can help people reach their daily amount," said the group's nutritionist Dr Juliet Gray.

Furthermore, One simple way to lessen the acceleration of gaining those few pounds, is to remain hydrated. One thing many of us are not aware of is the importance of water in a weight loss program.

To achieve weight loss and for our bodies to function at an optimum rate, our bodies must be well hydrated, this is known as optimal hydration. Though most may think this is fairly obvious, most do not realise how much water we really need to take on board.

As we mentioned, did you know that the body consists of approximately 70% water and our brain, the most important organ, is made up of over 85% water! Water is the controller of all major functions of the human body and is the essential core of any healthy weight lowering program.

Why wait to get thirsty? To help stay healthy and hydrated we should all remember to be pro active about our drinking.
