Keeping Pain at Minimum - Rheumatoid Arthritis
Having healthy bones and joints is essential to are mobility
. To be able to walk, run, ride a bike or exercise is important to maintaining a good life. As we get older we start running in to problems with arches, pain and problems with the joints. Today even some of are young people are experiencing it.
One long-term disease of the joints is Rheumatoid arthritis. Cause is not known for sure. In this disorder the synovium, which is a thin membrane surrounding a joint, gradually becomes inflamed and swollen, and this leads to inflammation of other parts of the affected joint.
If the problem persists, the bones linked by the joint are slowly weakened. As I have seen in my mother and friends. The bone tissue may eventually be destroyed. When joints are affected, they become red, swollen, tender to the touch, painful to move and stiff. The stiffness is usually most noticeable first thing in the morning. As you move about slowly or even excising the joints, the pain and stiffness gradually become less severe. Only one or two joints may become affected, or the disease may rapidly become widespread.
Most cases of rheumatoid arthritis occur in the 40 to 60 age group. but the disease can happen at any age. One in ten people are severely disabled by it. In the early stages, it may require the removal of the badly inflamed joint synovium, this is effective if only a single joint is severely affected.
In many cases the disease is not limited to the joints. It can also cause generalized inflammation in the heart muscle, the blood vessels, and the tissues that are just beneath the skin.
In the later stages, this is where my mother is at, swollen, deformed joints may collapse and become partly or completely dislocated. This causes great pain, discomfort, and problems in walking if the knee or foot joints are affected. Tendons may also become so weak at that they snap, making it impossible to control certain movements. When the neck is affected what happens is the interlocking mechanism of the top two vertebrae may be badly weakened, then you can have the risk of paralysis or death from serious damage to the spinal cord. My mother has been told she could fall and that would kill her..
Today it is possible to replace severely damaged joints with an artificial one. Most any one you talk to that has had this done enjoy a less or no pain and have mobility again.
What are things you can do?
* Do a daily maintenance for joint protection
Take Glucosamine HCI (most absorbable form) to help keep your joint cartilage well oiled. Glusosamine helps promote the function of molecules that provide joint strength and elasticity, while enhancing cartilage production. I have taken this for years just because of the severe cases of arthritis in my mom side of the family. I do not have the arthritis at my age as my mother had.
Take Chondroitin it has cushion the joints where glucosamine helps rebuilds the joints
Take Calcium good for the bones
Take Vitamin D helps your immune system. Will write more articles on vitamin D benefits.
* Exercises regularly and moderately - Like swimming in heated pool
* Get plenty of rest. Sleep on firm mattress and use lightweight blankets to keep warmand to keep pressure off your joints.
* Eat well balance meals and healthy snacks
*Use a portable massagers to help relieve pain caused by stress and pain on the joints. There are many on the market from chairs massagers, mat massagers, belt massagers, pillow massagers, neck massagers, and facial massagers that can help take away pain and give stress relief. The new handheld personal massagers are great for the home, office or traveling. The new infrared heat massagers are great for neck pain, shoulder pain, lower back pain, or use any where on your body. I like for my arthritic hands. Another option go to a professional massager occasionally.
* Follow the advice of your physician
