Keeping Your Computer Adware Free

Adware, or advertising software can be more than a general nuisance

. Some

forms of advertising software simply play or display themselves on just

about any site you visit, i.e. banners. Other forms of advertising software

are actually privacy invasive. Often times a free download may be bundled

with adware in exchange for the right to use the program for free. This is

known as shareware. The program monitors your browsing habits. It is not

done to damage your computer but will instead give related information on

products you seem interested in. The information obtained is then passed on

to third parties without your knowledge or permission. The companies doing

this argue this is done to offset cost. Tip: Do NOT click on pop-up ads.

Your best defence is to already have a reliable firewall, anti-virus and

anti-spyware program with real time protection installed on your computer

and kept up to date by downloading updates automatically. Also consider

installing pop-up blockers and anti-ad programs. There are free versions

available that will catch unknown items, giving you the chance to delete or

quarantine them.

Flash coding and cookies are also known destroyers. Download flash cookie

destroyers and set the program to run automatically. These programs are

available as an add-on feature on a popular browser. The program will delete

the cookie immediately after the flash.

Some forms of malicious adware will download themselves on to your computer

without you even knowing about it. Other forms will disguise themselves as a

trusted program, use the name of computer security companies or use a name

that is well known and associated with computer software and vital updates.

How do you know which adware will download itself or act malicious?

Obvious types of sites to avoid are music download sites, on line gambling

sites, porn sites, some add-on toolbars and some well known messenger

programs. Do NOT download or use the two most popular instant messenger

programs. Your security system may indicate key logging on these programs.

This is your security systems way of telling you to un-install the program

for added security.

Zango and it's toolbar (who actually sued a security company for blocking

installation of their products) are NOT needed on your system. Do NOT allow

it to run or even quarantine it. Delete it as fast as you can! Advertising

Trojans are also common. dlder.exe comes from clicktilluwin.com, distributed

by Cydoor Ad-System.

Do not accept adware on your PC. Scan your PC with a reputable anti-spyware

program and get rid of it today.
