Keeping Your Home Looking Clean and Smelling Fresh

Growing up, we where each given a chore to do around the house. It was either making our beds, putting away our clothes or taking out the dog. It took a lot of huffing and puffing to get our chores done but we learned to deal with it, eventually. We complained how tough our parents where for making us do such difficult chores. Reality kicks in once we step out into the real world and realize how lucky we really where to have been given such small tasks. Maintaining a clean home takes a lot of leg and arm movement. Making the bed and putting away our clothes is not gonna magically make our homes look and smell clean. It does helps but there is a lot more cleaning to do around the house and we can't all afford to have our own maids.

Cleaning should be done daily and not weekly or monthly. Daily cleaning may sound hard but leaving the cleaning for " later" will make matters worst. Dust and grease will accumulate if left too long without cleaning. We all live busy lives and cleaning the entire house is impossible but a little a day can help. The basic cleaning products that are used today are the obvious, a broom, mop, dust pan, bucket, sponge, dish washing detergent, antibacterial wipes, rubber gloves and a good all-purpose cleaner. I have tried many all-purpose cleaners and found the 4 and 1 Lysol Disinfectant to be my favorite. Just like in the commercial, it kills germs, removes soap scum and I love the smell. It even works wonders on removing juice stains from counter tops.

The first step to having a clean home is picking up all the clutter. Put away toys, books, magazines in a large plastic container or just get rid of unwanted items for good. There is no need to have unwanted items taking up space and picking up dust. Cleaning up the clutter daily can save you a lot of time and will even give an illusion of a bigger space. Have a small basket in every room so there is no excuse for having trash lying around the house. A large laundry basket is a must. You don't want dirty laundry spread across the floor when guests arrive. Not a pretty sight at all and the smell is even worst. Make a habit of washing laundry at least two to three times a week. It all depends on how much clothes get dirty and how big are the laundry baskets.

In the Kitchen, don't let dishes accumulate. Wash dishes as soon as they get dirty. Don't forget to wipe down sinks, ovens, table counters and tables daily. In the Bedroom you will need to wash duvet covers and other bed linens at least twice a week to remove dust and keep our bed smelling fresh. Also, clean the bathroom daily wiping down the bathroom sink, cleaning the toilet bowls and wiping the clean. Make a habit of sweeping the floor daily and mopping at least three times a week.

These are just some basic tips on how to keep your home looking clean and smelling fresh. Just turn up the radio, put a handkerchief over your head, grab some rubber gloves and enjoy a clean home.
