Keeping Your Machine Odorfree
One of the greatest inventions man had come up with is the washing machine and the consequent dryer
. It is these two things that have definitely made the lives of million American moms quite bearable. Because of these machines, gone are the days when you had to lose your hands softness over some strong detergent. Gone also are the days when you have to hang out everything to dry.
Unfortunately, with each new solution comes a greater problem. In the case of the washing machine, this great problem is in the form of awful stenches. But what is the exact cause of this stinking smell in your washing machine?
One of the primary culprits for the awful smell that your washing machine might have is the use of too much detergent. Too much detergent means too much soap suds, and to much soap suds can lead to slimy washing machine walls that produce rancid smell.
You might also need to go easy on the number of clothes that you put on your tub. When your machine is unable to swirl the water around, most of the dirt from your clothes settle down at the bottom and get stuck there. These dirt particles can lead to a build up of molds and mildew overtime which, in turn, can lead to
washing machine stinks.
Forgetting to wipe it dry after every use can also leave your
washing machine stinky. The moisture that gets left behind becomes ground for bacteria to thrive on. It could even push mold and mildew to grow inside the ducts of your washing machine. If you do not have time to wipe your machine dry, you can, at least, leave the doors open and air-dry it.
At least once a week, try setting your washing machine to a cycle of water containing nothing but baking soda. Baking soda is known for absorbing washing machine stinks and could leave your tub like new. If your
washing machine stinks, you can also try running two to four cycles of water with white vinegar and then use the baking soda to remove the smell of the vinegar.
