Keeping Your Website Looking Seasonal
Many business keep their websites looking the same year after year. They never change (apart from new information updated from time to time) and look boring, samey and dull.
Many shops tend to move their stock around and change window displays in order to keep things fresh and keep people on their toes.
This generally causes people to look around more than if they knew where things were.
The same could be said for websites. Very often they can get 'samey' and drab. People will get used to the look and feel of the site, so making small yet regular changes will keep things looking fresh.
This could be a seasonal colour change (bright colours for summer, darker for winter) or picture themes for seasons.
Getting the balance is important, so depending on the sort of visitors your site attracts, you need to balance the design/theme accordingly.
Social business
If you have a website that has social visitors (such as a music website) then you can get away with having things that are 'fun and funky' on the website.
Examples could be a reindeer for Christmas time, or an Easter egg for Easter.
Corporate business
If you are a legal service, or a bank, then you need to keep the professional feel. So having a cartoon would not really be appropriate.
Having a colour theme, or a seasonal message would be fine.
The main thing, is to show your visitors that you are on the ball, that your website is dynamic and moving with the times (as opposed to being the same yesterday today and forever).
Website designers are very creative businesses and can help in putting together ideas for something unique.
The main reason is to make people smile or even think 'hm, that is nice - they have made a little effort'. You may be surprised how people respond to something simple such as a picture of leaves during autumn.
It is advised to shop around and compare website costs - as all designers will charge differently for doing updates and modifications. Basic changes (such as colour themes and new pictures) will not be very expensive but the rewards (in terms of visitor response) will be well worth the investment.
