Keeping your own chickens has now become the must do thing and with more and more people turning part of their garden into a little chicken heaven, why not give it a go. It may all seem like hard work but in fact chickens are really easy to keep, you feed them once a day, clean them out once a week and have fresh eggs at the end of it. Gardening can be hard work and you must first choose the right tools for the job. You may need a shovel, spade, fork and a few other tools. Ergonomic tools are another thing that has really taken off over the last couple of years. People now finally understand that ergonomic tools are designed to aid and help in any gardening job, big or small. Lots of research goes in to ergonomic tools before they are released onto the market and there are plenty of ergonomic tools to choose from. There are the easier handled tools and there are also attachments that can be fitted on to any tool, which makes it less expensive. Ergonomic tools are not complicated but ergonomic simply means to work in union with the body to lessen the strain and injury caused when carrying out any gardening job. The market has really moved on in the past couple of years, meaning there are some great tools on the market. Once you have selected the right tools simply choose where the chickens are going to live and invest in a really good, sound chicken house. If your space is small, two chickens will surf ice. Chickens don't need a huge amount of space but they do need to be able to wonder. Fresh straw should be added to the chicken house and the nesting boxes and food obtained. Chickens will eat layers pellets which you can get from any farm shop and in the evenings a nice bit of corn will be appreciated. The fox may want to pay you a visit once he realises you have some very tasty chickens and the height of the fence is paramount. The fence needs to be high enough, so the fox cannot simply hop over. Keeping chickens is great fun and with a little effort, you can be enjoying your very own fresh eggs.
