Keeping safe in Cape Town

For those planning to stay in the many luxurious Cape Town villas scattered all over the city

, here are a few tips to make sure your stay is nothing short of amazing:

If you are planning to take the cable car up Table Mountain, be sure to check if there is a white cloud draped over the top of the mountain, this cloud is know as the tablecloth, you may be able to see it from your Capetown villa. If the table cloth is spread over the mountain then rather leave the cable car for another day, as once up there all that you are sure to see is cloud rather then a view.

When taking photo's, choose to take them in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the harsh bright light, if you are using film, remember to always keep your film cool.

As in all other cities, tourists are the prime target for theft, always remain alert and be sure to take precautions.

Avoid flashing money and credit cards around and wearing excessive amounts of jewellery.

It is best to keep your bag strapped across your chest and shoulder so that it hangs in front of you, rather than behind you where you cannot monitor it.

Walking around in the daytime is usually safe, but avoid walking around at night, especially if you are alone.

Keep your car doors locked at all times, whether driving or parked outside your villa in Cape Town.

Don't leave your possessions in plain sight when you park your car, windows are often smashed to get to these possessions. Rather leave your belongings in the boot, out of sight.

Don't leave items unattended when at the beach.

You wouldn't want a silly thing such as paranoia to spoil an otherwise incredible holiday and although you may be staying in one of the magnificent Cape Town villa rentals, you wouldn't want paranoia to dictate that you never leave your Cape Town villa. Be sure to exercise precaution and everything should be fine.
