Kegel Excercises: Another Useful Weapon In The Fight Against Urinary Incontinence In Men
Kegal exercises have proven to be an effective method in the
management and control of urine voiding as well as the
storing (bladder) of urine for men in particular, also many
women who have suffered from stress incontinence and mixed
incontinence have shown amazing improvements after six or
seven weeks of executing Kegel exercises properly. Men and
women both have profited from a regular regimen of Kegel
exercises.
Urinary incontinence can be grouped into five major types:
(1)stress incontinence (2) urge or urgency incontinence (3)
mixed incontinence (4) overflow incontinence (5) continuous
incontinence. Men who have suffered with each type of
urinary incontinence and began practicing the Kegel exercise
regimen showed remarkable results in many of the cases. When
executed properly the Kegal exercise regimen have shown
positive results in almost all cases.
Urinary incontinence is the inability to manage or control
the voiding or passing of urine; it is the involuntary
voiding of urine. There are a number of reasons men suffer
with urinary incontinence. Although it happens more
frequently to the old, it is not a condition that is
synonymous with aging. In fact, there is a growing number of
younger men who are being diagnosed with urinary incontinence
unlike any other time in recent history, and in addition to
that it is believed that only thirty percent of men who
suffer with urinary incontinence seek medical help! That
means that over seventy percent of men who suffer with some
form or type of urinary incontinence are receiving no medical
help whatsoever...and that is the real tragic story behind
the condition. Early detection and treatment can in many
cases be the difference in life and death.
Men who seek out medical help from their primary caregiver or
urologist in the early stages of urinary incontinence have a
greater chance of having their condition successfully treated
and in quite a few cases completely healed. That is why it is
so important for men to seek medical help as soon as they
think they have a problem with urinary incontinence; delaying
visiting a doctor could very well end on a tragic note.
Many primary care givers as well as urologists will highly
recommend Kegel exercises to patients they feel could benefit
from it the most. To be quite frank about it, Kegal
exercises are not a silver bullet, nor do they claim it to
be. But in case after case employing the Kegal exercise
regimen have made the difference between suffering with
urinary incontinence...and actually being cured! Kegel
exercises can have that great of an impact on some people,
both men and women who suffer from urinary incontinence.
Some men and women who suffer with stress incontinence have
shown remarkable improvement after four to six weeks of doing
Kegal exercises on a regular basis. Men who undergo a
prostatectomy or prostate surgery often suffer with stress
incontinence as a post operative condition. Stress
incontinence is the voiding or passing of urine while
laughing, coughing, sneezing, and doing practically any kind
of physical activity. However, many men have shown
significant improvement when doing the Kegal exercises for
four to eight weeks on a steady basis, also, many men have
reported a positive increase in their ability to perform
sexually. Truth is, there are a number of people who employ
the Kegel exercise regimen for sexual enhancement or greater
sexual control and endurance.
Kegal exercises focus on getting greater control of the
pelvic floor muscles or pubococygeus (pc) muscles. A regular
exercise program done consistently will eventually help
practically everyone that does them correctly over a given
period of time. Being able to contract and release these
muscles will help with the control of unwanted urine passing
or voiding. These muscles can be strengthen by following
Kegel exercises correctly. Kegel exercises can also help men
who are experiencing bladder problems, or the inability to
keep their urine from passing when it is not suppose to.
Kegel exercises have been reported to even help men who
suffer from urge or urgency incontinence.
Any type of urinary incontinence can cause excruciating pain
and embarrassment in public and private settings. The
inability to hold or prevent urine from voiding or passing
when it is not suppose to can create major psychological and
emotional problems for men who have to deal with such
troubling situations, but in many cases most of these
problems can be successful dealt with if medical help is
sought before the problem escalate into something even worse.
For most men the key to successful treatments for urinary
incontinence lies within their own will. If medical help is
sought in the early stages of urinary incontinence and an
on-going relationship between them and their doctor(s) is
fostered, in time there will be a real improvement in almost
all cases. So be sure to get medical help as soon as possible
and follow your doctors recommendations and instructions to
the letter, and your chances of healing will be much greater.
