Kentucky Derby 2010 Top 10 Updates

OK, here we are, the big week is finally upon us

. Have fun this week, study hard, even drink a shot of bourbon occasionally. It all culminates with a mighty crescendo Saturday when they play My Old Kentucky Home and time stands still for 136th running of the Kentucky Derby.

A lot has happened in the past week: A filly, DEVIL MAY CARE, has been entered. The future book favorite, ESKENDEREYA, has been withdraw due to his right foreleg filling. RULE has been ruled out. JACKSON BEND and BACKTALK are still borderline to get into the race. HOMEBOYKRIS is still in hiding having not run since February 27th. Todd Pletcher has his normal fleet of entries headed by SUPER SAVER. NOBLES PROMISE, after suffering a plethora of scrapes and bruises in the Arkansas Derby looks like he will make the Big Dance after all. John Sadler has the extremely formidable SIDNEYs CANDY ready to run accompanied by his other upstart steed, LINE OF DAVID. LOOKIN AT LUCKY has inherited the post time favorite position. D.Wayne Lukas has the cantankerous DUBLIN ready to roll.

Nick Zito has ICE BOX resting comfortably awaiting his last minute cyclonic rush down the Churchill stretch. The same can be said for the newly rejuvenated STATELY VICTOR. PADDY OPRADOS trainer, the local horseman, Dale Romans, seems to have discovered that his animal also might be able to run on the dirt instead of only the turf. All the others are hoping for a miracle like the thoroughbred plebeian, MINE THAT BIRD, unleashed last year with his startling upset in the 135th Kentucky Derby. All that is left is final workouts and preparations, the post position draw, and, of course, the anyones guess weather report.

Enjoy, the merriment is just beginning!

Here is our latest 10 ten list as it has changed already with ESKENDEREYA being pulled out of the race. Our Top ten list will probably change again as we close in on the race date, so keep an eye out for more updates. I post them as soon as I can and I suspect that this year it will come down to the wire.

3. Super Saver

4. Paddy OPrado

See you in The Winners Circle On Saturday May 1st.
