Here are some optimizing methods to improve your website's search engine rankings based on the keyword element of your website.

Keywords and keyword phrases are what visitors search for. They want more information about these words from your site. When considering what words to use, you need to determine the best keywords and use them in the right amounts. There is a point at which there are not enough mentions of a given keyword to gain attention and a point after which adding more begins to feel like spam.

Look at what related words are searched for, synonyms, your competitor's keywords, the features and benefits of your information, product or service. When you have a good list, you can then write content that shows how you have the solution for what your visitors need. If you have, for instance, three major product categories then you will want to create a home page discussing the products in general and then devote a page to each category. On each of these pages, you can focus the use of your chosen words to that single topic. You may find that these subpages rank in searches far better than your home page.

Make sure you use all the elements in a page as places to store keywords. This includes page titles, alt tags and meat descriptions. Page titles appear as the links in Google searches and at the bar across the top of Internet Explorer. Page descriptions appear beneath the title in search engines and serve to entice visitors to your website. Alt tags help search engines (and the visually impaired) discover what you have on your site.
