These therapies also aim to reduce the anxiety a person who stutters experiences in certain speaking situations.

There is also drug therapy. Although there is no approved drug for the treatment of stuttering, some drugs that are intended for other health problems may be used for the treatment of stuttering. These drugs include anti-epileptic drugs, anti-anxiety drugs, and antidepressants.

Stammering usually occurs during the child?s early developmental years. For these young children, early treatment is crucial as it may prevent developmental stuttering from becoming a lifelong problem. This is where finding a cure for stammering comes into play.
