. Dog seizures have many causes and there are different types. If you have a dog with seizures, you'll need to know what kind of seizure your dog has. There's no way for your vet to be able to diagnose what kind of seizure your dog has without your assistance.

Dog seizures come in two broad categories, focalized seizures and generalized seizures. These categories are based on the amount of the brain that is affected by the seizure. The generalized seizures are the one that affect the entire brain, while the focalized seizures affect a much smaller and more specific part of the brain. Each of these categories has two distinct sub categories of seizures.

Generalized seizures, which affect the entire brain, take two forms. These can be thought of as relating to the amount of brain activity involved. The major motor seizure is where the brain becomes overloaded and the dog has a motor seizure, which causes the muscles to become rigid and the dog to twitch and suffer from other involuntary muscle reactions.

The other kind of generalized seizure is an absence seizure, which creates a moment of disconnection for the dog. In this case, the dog will be unresponsive to outside stimuli. The dog will not be able to notice what is being done around him and will have a fixed, distant stare.

Moving to focalized seizures, the first kind of focalized seizure is a simple focal seizure. This is a seizure that affects only a small portion of the brain, one that is responsible for motor control. In other words, this is the same general thing as a major motor seizure, but on a smaller scale. In a simple focal seizure only a small portion of the dog's motor system is affected.

In contrast, a complex focalized seizure affects the behavioral center of the dog's brain, which causes drastic changes in the dog's mental and psychological outlook. As a result, the dog will begin to behave in an uncharacteristic way and in some cases can even become violent to those around it, although that is fairly uncommon.

No matter how hard it is to watch, it is essential that you be carefully observant during your dog's seizures because only by being able to identify what kind of seizures your dog is having will you be able to give the vet the information they need in order to diagnose and treat your dog.

Dog seizures can be alarming to watch and frightening for a dog owner but with time and love and adequate medical care, a dog with seizures can live a normal and happy life.
