Xbox 360 is a video-game console that is owned and manufactured by Microsoft Corporation the world's Number One Software Company based in the United States of America. The video-game console was officially launched in the year 2001 in the United States of America. The Xbox video game was Microsoft's first attempt at the console gaming market. However, its performance in the market was greatly inhibited due to fierce competition arising from similar devices. This led to its partial discontinuation in late 2006 before being re-launched again in the year 2008. Even then, its performance was still shaky.

But then things changes for the better in the year 2009 with the introduction of Kinect Computer Game. Unlike previous versions of computer games, it is not a manual game but is more or less abstract. This is because it accepts input of commands and instructions not by means of pressing a button but through gestures and voice prompts. It is therefore very easy to use and get accustomed to compared to other manually-operated video games. This was aimed primarily at competing favourably with similar video gaming applications that are owned by competing firms. The Xbox 360 is also designed for use on the Personal Computer platform, particularly those that run on Windows Operating System. This enabled its use to spread further and wider than similar games manufactured by competing firms. Users generally say that the video game provides a very convenient way of beating boredom.

Early this year, 2011, when Microsoft announced its profits for the year ended December 31, 2010, it emerged that the consumption of Xbox video-game consoles sky-rocketed due to the introduction in the previous year 2009, of the Kinect video-game. It is reported that eight million units, 4.3 million over and above their initial target were sold, leading to an increase in the sale of Xbox bundle by 21 per cent. This was good news for Microsoft coming at a time when its other famous flagships such as Windows Operating System and Internet Explorer were doing poorly due to stiff competition from other software manufactures.

In addition to raw sales, Xbox 360 Accessories such as subscriptions to the Xbox Live site had also shot up by an estimated thirty percent in the last quarter of that financial year. Microsoft's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Steve Ballmer announced during the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show that Xbox Live had registered an additional thirty million new users which is by all means, a record on its own. At the same venue, he reported that raw sales of Xbox 360 alone, had now hit the fifty million mark.
