The primary feature of the Cuisinart TOB-195 is that this toaster oven is also a convection oven. If you are not familiar with that term and what it means, here is a quick little Convection Oven 101.

Convection ovens use fans to evenly distribute heat throughout the unit, which creates an overall, uniform temperature. This enables you to cook food faster and often at a lower heat setting as well. Your food also cooks at an even temperature all at once, as opposed to heating and cooking from bottom to top or top to bottom.

Cuisinart TOB-195 Convection Oven Pros

Since we've already spent a lot of time on the positives of the Cuisinart TOB-195 Convection Oven, I won't beat you over the head with them again here.

I'd have to say that the best thing about this oven is the fact that it's a convection oven as well. If you're knowledge of toaster ovens is limited to the old fashioned style that really didnt' do much more than toast bread and buns or warm up leftovers, you'll be shocked at the versatility of this machine. As others have stated, you just might end up using this more than you use your full size oven.

Personally, in the heat of summer, I'd rather use this than my full size. I don't need the air conditioning having to work harder than it already is.

Cuisinart TOB-195 Convection Oven Cons

Okay, there are a few features that I think would have been beneficial to the TOB-195. First, there really should be an interior light. I can't imagine why one wasn't included in the design, given the interior dimensions. There is no way to see what's happening inside close to the front, forget about seeing the back of the unit.

Don't be confused and think you are getting a true stainless steel appliance. This machine just has a stainless steel finish.

It doesn't have a stay cool exterior. Many people seem to be surprised that the unit gets hot on the outside, but nowhere does Cuisinart claim that this is a feature.

In line with the above, the way the handle is designed sort of puts you in peril of burning your hand, so you need to quickly learn how to position your palm when opening the unit after use.

The manual states that you can't put the TOB-195 on a counter where it will be positioned under cabinets. So, if you have cabinets above all of your counter space, this isn't the unit for you.

The crumb tray has to be removed from the back of the unit, which means you need to move your appliance in order to dump the crumbs.

Because of the exterior heat issue, the manual states that you must have 4 inches of clearance behind and beside wherever you place the unit.

Some complain that the unit doesn't shut off automatically when the timer goes off. Well, my full size oven doesn't do that either. I think people confuse this with a microwave instead of comparing it to a conventional oven.

While there is a timer, it only works when you are using the bake or broil functions.
