This surgery is not considered safe for all; hence there are chances of complications. Also called as vertical laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, sometimes, it can cause complications like infection, bleeding, nausea, pouch can stretch back and start leaking, blood clotting, loosening of switches or staples, revision surgeries and more. Sometimes due to these complications people have to undergo gastric bypass surgeries and reoperations. Sometimes, the surgery may also cause some other hunger related complications, as the hunger stimulating hormone gets removed in this surgery. All these are short term complications, which can occur within two to three after operation. It also includes long term complications like vomiting and developing gallstones. If you have already undergone this surgery, then you should take proper care in maintaining your weight and health. You should avoid certain things, like smoking, diabetes, clotting disorders and many other things, which can increase the complications.

Its not that its only about complications. There are many advantages as well. It is technically simpler surgery, as compared to other surgeries like gastric bypass and others. It takes maximum sixty minutes of surgical time and one day for hospitalization. So it is technically the proven best.
