A natural pearl, also called a wild pearl, is a tough object that is found in shelled mollusks mantle, a soft tissue.
How is natural pearl formed?
In situations when a parasite go into a bivalve mollusk and stays there inside the shell for long time, then natural pearls are formed. When the parasite exasperates the mollusk, then the mollusk makes a pearl sac which is made up of mantle tissue cells and generates the conchiolin and calcium carbonate in order to cover the parasite. After repeating this secretion process for many times, pearl is formed

Well it is made of calcium carbonate and conchiolin.
What are different types of shapes of natural pearl?
They are round, near round, oval, button, drop, semi-baroque and baroque. Out of these shapes, round shape is the rare one.
What are the different ways in which pearls are produced?
The first one is natural way in which pearls are produced without human intervention and the second way is cultured way in which pearls are farmed from pearl oysters by people and are sold in much quantity now a days

Well the brightness of the pearl depends on the diffraction, reflection and refraction of light. The luster is directly proportional to the number and thinness of the translucent layers.

Yes pearls can be made to appear in green, blue, black, purple, pink, brown and yellow colors by dyeing the same.

Well pearls can be used in making precious and attractive ornaments. Also they can be used in lavish clothing by means of stitching them onto clothes. And amazingly when pearls are crushes and made into powder form, the same can be used in medicines, making of paints and in cosmetics.

The natural pearl must be accompanied with the x-ray certificate by a gemologist, hence assures that the pearl is natural. Also check for the pearl quality in order to ensure its authenticity.
What are different types of test in order to ensure that the pearl is natural?
Using magnifying lens called loupe, see for tiny drill holes. If the pearl is not drilled, then with the black light, natural pearls will have different color intensity in different pearls.
