Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a group of developmental disorder that causes problem with communication and brain development. It can be severe or mild and different for each patient. Children, who suffer from autistic disorder has communication, social, language challenges, unusual behavior and interest. These autistic patients also have intellectual disability. Asperger syndrome has some similar symptoms of autistic disorder like social challenges, interests and unusual behaviors. These asperger syndrome patients may not have problems with intellectual and language disabilities. Pervasive developmental disorder is also called as atypical autism. Children, who have this PDD, may suffer from milder symptoms like autism and fewer.

Risk factors and causes of ASD:

There are many risk factors and causes of ASD, which make a kid more likely to have this disorder. They might be genetic factors, biological factors, environmental conditions and many more. Many of the specialists said that genes are one of the reasons to make a person to develop this disorder. If the children have a sibling or parent with autism then there might a higher risk to have this ASD. The drugs also cause to this disorder, which are taken during pregnancy. They are thalidomide and valproic acid is linked to have an ASD. Children who born with less weight and born prematurely are at greater risk for having an ASD.

Treatment:

There is no treatment for autism, but it can be cured. If you find the disorder on early stages then there is a chance of early diagnosis, which can improve a childs development. There are some medication and therapies like dietary conditions, speech therapy and many more to control the symptoms. For an autistic kid, early intervention is very important to improve the development. There are also some preschool programs, which helps in their brain conditions.
