Audi introduced a car completely built with the help of its personnel in1924 and this car became a huge success. Audi is also credited with introducing the left hand drive system which was gradually accepted almost everywhere over Europe in the 1930s.

Audi concentrated on manufacturing smaller and more fuel efficient cars owing to shortage of petrol during the Second World War. The company went through some dark times when the factory at Zwickau was appropriated by the Russians after they overran Germany during the Second World War. After the end of the War, Audi went from strength to strength. The company produced cars which were fuel efficient and also very driver friendly. It was in the 1930s that Audi cars first entered the world of motor sports and today Audi cars are considered as one of the best rallying and touring cars in the world.

Audi's performance dipped in the 1980s but the company bounced back and reinvented its product line. The lost market share and market penetration was clawed back by the launches of cars such as the hugely popular 'A' series. The Audi A4, A6, A8 have become benchmarks of the quality provided by Audi. Audi was one of the first companies to pioneer the four wheel drive technology and the latest Sports Utility Vehicle from the stables of Audi titled the Q7 is wowing the world and getting some truly spectacular reviews.

Sports cars produced by Audi have also been highly popular. The Audi TT was one sports car which garnered a lot of attention and popularity when it was launched and the compact size of the car coupled with the superb technological inputs makes the TT one of the best sports car in the market. The recent launch of the Audi R8 has also demonstrated the popularity and attachment towards cars made by Audi by people all over the world with its exemplary sales figures.
