Know The Basics Of Data Storage Solutions

Every organization has to store the data securely for further reference

. It is important for IT industry because as the business grows, the data also increases. There are many storage devices to store the data safe and securely. Before you opt for any of these solutions, you should be aware of some shortcomings in it. Many people look for storage solutions with an existing problem. This problem could be anything like the budget concern, data onsite hardware and also the necessity of more storage space. Network administrators are choosing storage solutions to improve the database.

There are some basics, which you need to follow in data storage. Usually if the data is stored in network then it is termed as network data storage, but it has various technologies. Along with storing the data it is also important that it is confidentially maintained as it is related to business operations. As discussed, there are several storage device technologies, which include network attached storage (NAS), direct attached storage (DAS), internet small computer system interface (iSCSI), cloud storage and redundant array of independent Disks (RAID). All the organizations prefer storing the data securely using these technologies. These technologies are related to servers to store the data and to provide the access to data within organization.

Generally, large sized organizations use all the technologies to secure and store the data, but it is not the case with all the organizations. Small sized organizations use any one these technologies to store the data. Many companies store the important data, which is useful for their business needs; the stored data could be archived after some few years.

Most of the companies use SAN storage to store and maintain the data; it is useful to large organizations as they maintain numerous systems and servers. It is a high speed network storage, which supports data backup, migration and disk mirroring. It is based on Ethernet protocols like fibre channel, iSCSI which connect through TCP/IP. It manages both data storage and retrieval with the help of local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN). SAN is effective than using LAN and WAN, but LAN connects well to server in any area network. Wireless LAN is cheaper and preferable than wired LAN.

For instance, NAS is also considered for the storage and the privacy of the information. It has many features and supports business efficiency. Network attached storage acts as a shared volume for file sharing and data backup within organizational network. NAS is different from SAN and less comprehensive compare to SAN. In short, we should plan wisely before going for any of these data storage solutions.
