Know Your Plumbing System Inside And Out

How is the plumbing in your home working? If you have dripping taps or slow moving

drains it may be time to get your plumbing and plumber to work together.

Most of the time we take for granted that we can turn on a tap and have fresh water in our home. In addition, we expect that every time we flush the toilet that the water will drain correctly. However, this is not always the case. There are times that water taps do not shut off completely and other times that drains do not drain. In these cases, it is time to call for help.

The clean water system in your house works under stress. Water is usually stored in storage tanks above well above the level of your house to give it the pressure wanted to flow into your house. In the flatlands, these storage tanks are frequently raised with legs and called water towers. In towns with hills or mountains, the tank can frequently be on a hilltop and supply the gravity pressure that is required. Use of these tanks assists in keeping the water pressure continuing in the home.

To stop the water from flowing at all time, our sinks have valves that are called taps. Within the water tap is a rubber o-ring or washer that may wear over a period of time. When this occurs, the pressure of the water can lead it to start to drip. Dripping taps can waste water and over time cause erosion of the fixtures in your house.

In an example of a few mins, it is feasible for a plumber to replace these rubber parts and stop the drips.

Waste lines can also become plugged over time. This can happen as plumbing gets older. Sometimes tree roots can grow into a line causing water to no longer flow correctly. Other times the waste itself can form a plug that causes water to stop flowing. When this happens, you will find that much of your plumbing cannot be used until repairs have been made.

A plumber can utilize a tool called a rooter that moves thru drain pipes to clear the clogs. The rooter has a device at the end of the wire that's able to cut thru the roots and other matter in the pipe to have it free flowing again.

Any time you are having plumbing problems, be sure that you call your plumber for his expert help to keep everything working correctly.
