They don't perform surgery and were not actually trained into caring and managing diseases of the eyes. They are all well trained to diagnosing and treating vision conditions including farsightedness, presbyopia, nearsightedness and astigmatism. Focus, coordination and ability to see colours and depth accurately are also being examined by the optometrist.

Lastly, opticians are the professionals working together with the optometrist and ophthalmologist in providing vision services pertaining to the diagnosis and repair of vision problems and eye disorders. They are actually the healthcare professionals assisting the patient before, during and after exams conducted by the other two professionals. They are trained and educated into analyzing and interpreting eye prescriptions; doing everything pertaining to the contact lenses, frames and eye glasses. They can also determine the lenses that are appropriate for the patient's need.

After knowing who to call, there are also some things to be considered when a patient is n front of a whole bunch of professional eye doctors. In choosing one, there are some qualifications that must be met. Certificates, licenses are some of the things that can attest the quality of a certain eye doctor. Experience also count as one. Hearing or seeking other patient's testimony pertaining to a certain eye doctor can also be of great help. And lastly, try to examine the services it offers.
