Knowsley Safari Park Hosts The Rnlis Annual Reindeer Run This Weekend
The Royal National Lifeboat Institutes annual Reindeer Run is once again being held
at UK Safari Park, Knowsley Safari Park this weekend (Sunday 27th November 2011) where a 5k and 10k race will be held with a number of festive touches to get people in the spirit of Christmas.
The charity event that had previously been held at the safari park last year will hopefully be attracting just as much of a turnout this year with two races; a 5k race (for 10+ years) and a 10k race (for 16+ years), but for those not up to the running there is still the 3.5k Santa Saunter walk open to all ages as well.
The perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit as well as the spirit of giving, the RNLIs Reindeer Run gets runners into the festive mood with free reindeer antlers, a bright red nose and winter refreshments provided, including mince pies and a hot drink to warm up after the event.
The race takes place on the picturesque Knowsley Hall Estate, starting and finishing at the Safari Park itself. Participants will even be able to meet the elephants and giraffes at the start line and visit other safari animals such as meerkats and the safari parks infamous baboons.
Registrations are still being taken online at rnli.org.uk/reindeer and the 5k race costs 15 to enter with the 10k race costing 18 and the Santa Saunter costing 7.50 all proceeds going to the RNLI charity and free entry to the safari park included for the festive fun and games.
During the Winter Knowsley Safari Park is closed during week days but remains open on weekends from 10:30am and last entry at 3pm, all safari attractions are open but amusement rides are closed out of season.
