Ko Kret - A Sublime Island Within A Restless City

As the canal was widened many times, eventually the section became a separate island.Ko Kret is the home mainly to descendants of the Mon tribe who used to rule Thailand between the 6th and 10th centuries, and to this day exhibits their traditional Buddhist influence. You will find plenty of phenomenal religious shrines and incredible Buddha statues throughout the island. However, Ko Kret is most noted for its unique Mon pottery. These are baked, unglazed red clay pots made in numerous shapes and sizes and embellished with intricate patterns. The pottery of Ko Kret not only makes wonderful souvenirs but they are also perfect as gifts to loved ones. Taking a lazy stroll in Ko Kret is itself an unforgettable experience, as this island is a harsh contrast to the rush of the rest of the city.
