Kodaikanal is among the most popular hill stations in India

. Its never ending charm attracts everyone again and again. It is located on the upper Palani hills near Madurai in Tamilnadu. With its enchanting rocks, woods and sylvan lakes, Kodaikanal is an ideal hill station for vacations. Here are some of the attractions of Kodaikanal that you would never wish to miss.

Bear Shola Falls:

The bear shola falls is an ideal tourist place for a picnic and is at a distance of 2km from the lake. In earlier day, bears used to come and drink water from this fall thats why these falls are named after them. It is ideal to visit these falls during rainy season to enjoy the falls in its fullness.

Berijam Lake:


Berijam Lake is the most attractive picnic spot for any tourist in Kodaikanal which is situated about 23 kms from the local bus stand. Sightings of bison, leopard and other chirping birds are very common here. Apart from this, the tourists can also take a boat trip along this beautiful lake. This lake is not opened for general public however it can only be visited with the permission of District Forest Officer.

Bryant Park:

Bryant Park is located on the eastern side of lake and is a must visit botanical park because it houses some of the most rare flowers and hybrids as well. A British forest officer by the name Bryant was the one who landscaped this park in the year 1980 thats why it is named after him. An annual flower show held every year during the month of May and is the most visited place during the summer season.

Devils Kitchen:

This place is really dangerous deep ravine that looks like small gutters but are actually a deep fall. There are a plenty of tourists who visit this place and is a must see for adventurous tourists. The Devils Kitchen is found to be lying between Green Valley View and Pillar Rocks. It is better to visit this spot with a bunch of localites as they are fully aware of the place.

Dolphins Nose:

A scenic point located around 8 km from the bus stand, Dolphins peak is known for offering birds eye view of the plains and villages down the hills. The point can be reached from the old road after crossing Pambar Bridge. From here tourists need to take the rough curve which reaches to this point.

Green Valley View:

Earlier known as Suicide point, this area is now known as Green Valley View and it provides a picturesque and landscape view of plains, valleys, hills and the Vaigal dam. This valley is really deep and dangerous below this point because below this point it is more than 5000 feet deep. Best time to visit this place is after 10 am and before 3pm, as early mornings and evening have mist covering the valleys.


Kodai Lake:

One of the favorite spots in all of the Kodaikanal is Kodai Lake which any tourist would not want to miss. This lake is an artificial lake and is a star shaped lake spread over 60 acres with breathtaking greenery all around.
