Koh Chang: An Island With Exquisite Beauty

. The island has been growing steadily more popular. It is easily accessible from the mainland, and close to the Trat airport. Tan Mayom Waterfall is one of the largest waterfalls on the island Bang Bao Fishery Village is a fascinating community of stilt-like houses planted in the sea interconnected with bridges. White Sand Beach is one of the longest beaches in Koh Chang.
Klong Prao and Kai Bao Beaches are set against steep hillsides, but are swimmable and provide a variety of landscapes to explore. As recently as 2000, electricity and telephone landlines have only been available on Koh Chang. This makes the island a haven for the nature lovers, offering unspoiled mountains, streams, and rainforests in the interior. The beaches are quiet and clean with rich flora and marine life. Divers will appreciate the pristine coral reefs and bird watchers can indulge themselves in discovering new species around the island.
The naval Battle Area is in the south also near Salak Petch Bay. This is where the battle between Thai and French soldiers occurred in a conflict over the east border in 1941. There is also a Naval War Memorial on Laem Ngob Beach. High season is between November and May, so it is important to book a room beforehand to ensure accommodation when you arrive.
