Kyiv has a rich history in arts including the dramatic form
. Proof of this is the existence of some 50 theaters with 10 of them having a national status.
Tourists eager to explore Ukrainian arts and culture will surely have a grand time while in Kyiv. Some theaters worth visiting in the city are the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music, The National Philharmonic Society of Ukraine, Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater, Taras Shevchenko National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, Lesia Ukrainka National Academic Theater of Russian Drama, Chamber Music of Ukraine, the National House of Organ and the National Palace of Arts.

National Opera House "" This is one of Ukraine"s famous theaters. It has a long history evolving from a simple provincial town theater to becoming the country"s first stage. Some regular performers here are G. Rossini, g. Donizetti, S. Gounod and A. Khachaturian.
National Philharmonic Society of Ukraine "" Founded in 1863 in the House of Merchants Assembly, this is located in the Vladimirsky descent within the city center. It Nikolai Lysenko Hall of Columns is known for having showcased important artists and celebrities.
Kiev State Drama and Comedy Theater "" Located on the left bank of the Dnieper river, this is home to numerous Ukrainian productions including the world classics and very popular among viewers. L. Tolstoy"s Anna Karenina had been performed here. The theater has also received more than 15 awards given by The Kyiv Pectoral.
National House of Organ and Chamber Music of Ukraine "" This theater is situated inside the Nicholas Church which boasts of an intricate architectural design as seen from its faade alone as well as colored stained glass from the Baltic countries in its interior. It features a large concert organ created in the Czech Republic.
National Palace of Arts "" This place has played a significant role in Ukraine"s social, political and artistic life. Since its establishment, world renowned artists have graced its stage. These include Julio and Enrique Iglesias, the late Luciano Pavarotti, Jose Carreras, Sting, Joe Cocker and Brian Adams among others. Social and political events have also been held here.
Kyiv State Puppet Theater "" This is Ukraine"s oldest puppet theater established in 1927 as part of the Kiev Franco Theater for Children. Two productions were showcased during the theater"s first season. It is known for its contemporary puppet theater art, high artistic culture, vivid imagery and poetry. A studio for aspiring puppeteers is also in place. Today, performances here are jam packed by parents and children.
Franco National Academic Drama Theater "" Situated on Gorodetsky Street, this theater was founded in 1920. Performed here are masterpieces of Ukrainian artists as well as world classics such as those written by Ivan Franko, W. Shakespeare, F. Dostoyevsky, A. Chekhov and M. Bulgakow among others.
Leisha Ukrainka National Academic Theater of Russian Drama "" Located in the heart of Kyiv near the Golden Gate, this theater is one of Ukraine"s largest. Established in 1891, this place is very popular owing to the talented and famous actors and directors that work here.
