The advantages of owning LCD screen monitors are numerous. The fact that they take up considerably less room than the old fashioned monitor cannot be overlooked. Your computer can fit into a smaller place and the flat screen LCD display is easier on the eyes and gives a sharper picture. The cost of the LCD screen monitors has decreased since their inception. The variety of sizes that are available is as diverse as the companies that manufacture them.

There are small ones that are the size of tiny netbooks and some that are larger than some television sets. The 16" is great for limited sized areas and the larger 23" gives you an easy display that can be set against a wall or free standing on a desk. If they will be used in conjunction with a desktop computer that does not get moved, some can be mounted on the wall over the desk.

As with all LCD screen monitors, they will have to be cleaned. Having a dirty, spotted monitor will take away some of the advantages of LCD displays. It is not a difficult task, but some care needs to be used when cleaning them.

Before cleaning your speckled screen, turn your monitor off and let it cool. While the monitor is cooling mix equal parts of vinegar and distilled water. Tap water may contain chemicals which can damage the screen. A small amount of the solution will be adequate. The excess can be saved and used the next time you need to clean the monitor.

Pour the solution on a clean cloth. The cloth should be soft, preferably cotton, lint free cloth or muslin are preferable. Do not spray the solution directly on the LCD screen monitors. It can cause damage to the screen or leak into the monitor and the computer.

Gently wipe the screen with the dampened cloth. Do not apply excess pressure. If one light wiping does not get the LCD screen monitors clean, repeat the process until they are clean. Do not scrub them clean. Gentle, repetitive wiping will get the spots off the screen. If too much pressure is applied to the screen the potential of making them non-functional does exist.

Another option to cleaning your LCD screen monitors is to use alcohol and water. The same process is used. Use a small amount of isopropyl alcohol with distilled water as a cleaning solution. If there is dust on the LCD displays, use canned air to remove it. The dust particles will be easily removed with thecompressed air. There are numerous kits available to clean the LCD screen monitors. Most stores that sell computers and the tools that are necessary for proper function, will have kits available to clean the monitor.

The most important things to remember are not to use harsh chemicals. Window cleaning liquids can damage LCD screen monitors. Do not apply excess pressure to the screen while cleaning. That can cause permanent damage to the screen. Take your time and clean the screen whenever noticeable spots appear.
