LED Grow Lights - Hype Or The Greatest Invention For Indoor Growing?
Led grow lights have been around for the last few years and continue to get better with each passing year
. There are plenty of led light panels that are pretty expensive to say the least but the prices have been slowly dropping to a reasonable level recently.
These lights can end up saving you not only in electricity costs but also in bulb replacement and cooling issues while growing. We have done a few test grows with various led lights from many different manufacturers and here is what we noticed so far.
For the most part the lights seem very similar if not identical from retailer to retailer minus some badging, panel color or led light patterns. The outer portion of these led panels however look to all come from the same place.
The thing I find funny is that with the hype of these lights from one company to another, they really are the same light. There are a few led grow lights that actually are within the exact spectrum that plants need whether in veg or flower which is a huge and important bonus.
We did a test with about 600 watts of leds compared to a 600 watt hps grow light and overall I did infact prefer the density of the led light versus the hps. We were able to keep the light panels MUCH closer than our trusty hps lights which seemed to be very beneficial for our current grow cycle.
I would suggest first starting with 100 watt to 600 watts of leds and see how you like them. The ufo led lights for instance are great however the more rectangle panels seem to offer a better light footprint which works wonders in grow tents and cabinets.
The most favorite thing for me was the decrease in overall temps within the rooms and cabs that we did these tests in. When adding up the overall savings including electricity and a/c we have decided to expand our l.e.d.'s and get a few more units to replace our hps lights.
You might have better results than we did, it all comes down to the right environment and then genetics then lighting. Feel free to locate led grow lights for sale especially those with a decent wattage amount and a solid light spectrum that is tailored to indoor growing.
