LG GD910 Review- The Wrist Watch Phone by:Jerry Smith

As a video call enabled wristwatch phone, LG GD910 looks cool with unique design

. Though wristwatch phone is not an innovation any more, people starts taking the concept seriously only after the introduction of the GD910 . All the basic features are covered in the GD910, but you have to use a considerable percentage of your savings if you want to own the wristwatch mobile phone . The GD910 measures 49 x 39 x 13.8 mm and weighs just 84g. The Li-Ion battery supplies 2 hours of talk time and 247 hours of standby time.

Please pay attention that the size of GD910 is bigger than a large watch even though it is a small phone. Therefore, you may feel uncomfortable wearing this mobile phone. However, the GD910 is undoubtedly a fully functional handset

The 1.43 inches touch screen in GD910 can display 256K colors with a decent resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. It is disappointing that the image quality is poor and some colors completely fade even when the phone is used in the dark The sunlight visibility is very good even in the bright sun. The display size is too small for a capacitive touch screen, but you should get used to it after a couple of days of wearing the watch. There is a VGA camera above the screen which is quite useful for video calling and convenient to take still images. Don't search for hardware control keys at the bottom of the screen because they are placed on the right side following a typical watch style.

The GD910 uses a small screen and hence, the user interface is very much important. LG has used Flash technology for the user interface and to make the watch operational, the main menu has only four icons. The most attractive feature of the GD910 is the home screen and you can choose from a variety of dial available. You will find a great of common profiles in GD910 such as silent and ourdoor profiles.

You just need to push the button on the touch screen to activate the video calls and voice calls. When you select the type of call, a dial pad shows up on this tiny screen for you to dial numbers. Though it is a pity that there is no smart dialing feature which could be very handy in a small watch mobile phone, you can take advantage of voice commands to activate some of the features. Prerecorded commands must be known to you and by using the Bluetooth headset, you can use the phone completely hands free.

The GD910 features the barest minimum phone book, but you can store up to 1000 contacts in the phone. It is possible for you to assign pictures and ring tones to your contacts. This wristwatch phone performs well in call quality. The only disappointment is that the loud sperker of GD910 is not quite loud, so a quiet environment is required when you make calls. Just like any other mobile phone, vibration option is also available with theGD910, which is quite interesting.

You won't like sending messages using the GD910 because of the small touch screen and the on screen keypad. Also, it can handle only SMS and EMS. You can't expect a wristwatch mobile phone to be rich in multimedia features. However, the GD910 supports a music player with visualization. Bluetooth and USB connectivity options are available. There is also a 3G connectivity option, but you won't need it anyway as there is no browser.
