LG Optimus Black Will Be One of the Worlds Thinnest Smartphones

Many were amazed at the unveiling of the LG Optimus 2X, which was the first dual core smartphone released to the world. Since that time the Optimus Black was also unveiled and caused even more jaws to drop by providing many more features besides the dual core processing power. The Optimus Black is an exceptionally slender smartphone, and even slimmer than the iPhone 4 whose slimness Apple happily brags about on a constant basis.

The Optimus Black's 4" IPS LCD screen features LG's new NOVA technology which offers a level of brightness that surpasses all previous screen technologies including Apple's Retina Display and Samsung's Super AMOLED. This beautiful screen comes with a high colour count of 16 million colours and a very sharp resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.

The LG Optimus Black ships with Android 2.2 Froyo but is upgradable to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. This is also combined with LG's new Optimus UI and Gesture UI that offer a more intuitive design and a very LG look and feel. The Optimus Black includes an accelerometer which allows you to rotate this interface by turning the phone around.

The Optimus Black comes with high speed 3G connections making it ideal for all forms of web activity as well as video calling. The Black also comes with excellent Wi-Fi connections on offer, with DLNA and Wi-Fi Direct both supported. These allow you to connect the Optimus Black to other supported devices, allowing you to stream videos from the phone to a DLNA enabled TV or to use the handset as a wireless hotspot.

The Optimus Black comes with a 5 megapixel front facing camera which include an LED flash and software features such as geo-tagging. This also supports 720p HD videos that can be enjoyed either on the phone itself or on a TV through DLNA. The second front facing camera comes in at 2 megapixels and this is the highest resolution front facing camera yet featured on a smartphone. Video conferencing can be achieved through many software apps including Google Talk which comes included with the OS.

There are many apps and touchscreen games available for the Optimus Black with many more easily obtainable through Android Market. Included with the handset are Google Maps and YouTube, which can allow you to enjoy video content online. The phone also comes with some excellent messaging options including threaded SMS, email and instant messaging and comes with a high degree of social networking support for websites like Facebook and Twitter.

The LG Optimus Black is one of the slimmest smartphones on the market and one of the lightest in terms of weight as well. This is a phenomenal achievement on LG's part when you consider what hardware power is included in this phone. With dual core processors, two impressive cameras and the brightest phone screen available the Optimus Black will most likely remain a benchmark phone for some time to come.
