With an attempted New York car bombing fresh in people's minds

, airport security officials around the world are probably on edge. So it's no surprise that when pop sensation Lady Gaga passed through London's Heathrow Airport this weekend, she set off alarm bells-literally.

According to the U.K. site of MTV News, Gaga was sheathed in a "studded, leather playsuit" that probably aroused some attention when she tried to pass through the gates. Comments from an anonymous onlooker also suggest that her footwear raised a few eyebrows: "It was also Lady G's giant hoof-like shoes that raised suspicions with Heathrow staff performing a thorough search on the Bad Romance hit maker before letting her through customs once they realized who she was."

That probably gave security workers a shock. They usually claim to pick people out randomly, but when someone walks in looking like a space-age dominatrix-especially a weirdly pint-sized one like Lady Gaga-it's going to cause some suspicion. Apparently Gaga wasn't happy about being singled out, but if she's going to dress to attract attention, she's going to take the good with the bad.

That attention seems to be working for her as far as her career goes. Lady Gaga is known throughout the globe and is only 24 years old. The pop star has topped both the American and British pop music charts, and her tunes are omnipresent on radio stations. She has collaborated with Elton John and Beyonce, and the next big move for her might just take her to the stars.

Not the real stars-but the cosmos of Dr. Who aren't too shabby. Apparently, the long-running British TV show's scriptwriter Gareth Roberts has said he'd love to bring Gaga onboard for the show. He said he'd like to have her play a villain, as she already has the costumes ready. Again, from MTV News in the U.K.: "Roberts told Doctor Who magazine: 'The script might end up on screen one day with Lady Gaga, who will have fallen on hard times.' A source later told the Daily Star: 'She is no stranger to dressing up and would be more than a match for the Doctor. It would be a great coup to get her.'"

Lady Gaga's little monsters in the U.K. will have to keep their eyes peeled for that. In the meantime, fans are keeping their eyes on her touring info. Gaga has been one of the top ticket-selling artists of the past few years, with intense live performances that show off her musical talent as well as her fantastical clothing. Seeing her live in concert is like going to see an otherworldly pop music experience, like something you would find on board a UFO, if UFOs came equipped with their own neon-tinged nightclubs.
