Lamb Plush Toy

Every year, when the Easter Holiday rolls around

, children's thoughts often turn to lambs, bunnies, and ducks chocolate ones, that is. There are, however, many other alternatives at Easter besides purchasing animals made of candy, for instance, lamb plush toys are a lovely option for a child to have versus something sweet that will be gone in mere minutes. Lamb plush toys are a forever keepsake that a child can have for as long as they like.

Lamb plush toys are not specifically reserved for the Easter holidays. Like all plush toys, they can be given at any time of the year. They are a popular stuffed animal because they're cute and cuddly and remind us of newborns (given lambs are babies themselves), which is why lamb plush toys are often given as gifts to new mothers and their babies. And, children are quite familiar with the famous nursery rhyme Mary had a Little Lamb, which tells the story of a young school girl named Mary and her pet lamb that follows her everywhere she goes, including to school. After children hear the rhyme, it is no surprise that lamb plush toys make their way into many a home soon thereafter.

10,000 years ago, in Central Asia, sheep were first domesticated. In 3,500 B.C., man learned how to spin wool which was the first commodity to warrant international trade due to its value. Eventually, money that was earned in the wool industry was used in the 1400's by Queen Isabella of Spain to finance Christopher Columbus along with other conquerors' voyages to the new world. When Columbus took his second trip in 1493, sheep were taken with him so they could be later killed for food when needed. He also left sheep in Cuba and Santo Domingo, along the way. When Hernando Cortez began his exploration of Mexico and the western United States in 1519, the offspring from Columbus' sheep were taken with him on the voyage. Today, it is believed that the descendants of these sheep called 'Churros' - are the oldest breed of sheep in the U.S.

Most children are quite familiar with sheep and their lamb offspring because they are animals that can readily be seen on a farm, at a petting zoo, or in an animal sanctuary. As is the case, and like with many animals they see, a child likes to bring the outside in if they can. Lamb plush toys certainly make this 'wish' a viable option and at the same time, that child ends up with a plush best friend along the way. So don't wait for Easter to give a lamb plush toy as a gift surprise that special child in your life and give it for no other reason than to see their eyes light up with joy.
