Laminate Flooring Material Is Economical, Elegant, And Strong
Strong laminate flooring is a form of wooden floors
. Traditional hardwood flooring is made from solid wood floorboards that are laid into eye-pleasing patterns on the floor. The laminated hardwood product is made from a layering process that includes other types of materials that are fused underneath the top layer of the solid wood floorboards. The lower layers of the laminated floors are not visible after the boards are installed.
Laminate flooring products are beautiful, sturdy, and moisture-resistant.
High-quality laminated floors are extra-strong and safe to use in kitchens, bathrooms, and basements due to their moisture-repelling properties. These layered floorboards include a construction process that uses moisture-repelling melamine resin. This resin gives the laminated floorboards strength, moisture-repelling properties, and an easy-care durable finish that is harder to scratch or mar than most untreated hardwood floors.
Most laminate flooring products are made with four layers:
Base Layer: The underside of a laminated floorboard is called the base layer. This layer can vary in thickness and manufacturing process between the different brands of laminated floor products. Wood pulp sheets are used like sponges to absorb a strong melamine resin substance. The resin dries into a very hard surface that repels moisture to protect the bottom of the laminated floorboard from rotting.
Core Layer: The core of a laminated floorboard is fused solidly to the base layer. This interior section of the floorboard can be made from particleboard, soft woods, or other wood products. Consumers cannot see this layer of the floorboard. The materials that are used in this layer will be reflected in the price of the floor. Laminated floors are less expensive than the solid wood floors that they imitate.
Pattern Layer: The pattern layer is visible to the consumer after the flooring is installed. This layer of floor can be made of exotic woods, hardwoods, imitation woods, marble, natural stone, or other types of flooring materials. The thickness of this layer and the materials used will influence the final price of the floors. The pattern layer on the laminated floors is firmly fused to the core layer.
Easy-Care Protection Layer: There is a very sturdy clear layer of melamine resin on the uppermost layer of the laminated floors. The thickness of this layer varies between the different brands and styles that are available in laminated products. Consumers can choose between a smooth finish and a raised finish that feels like natural wood. This protection layer is hard to scratch and it is cleaned with common household products.
Due to the strong easy-care protection layer on the laminate flooring products, this type of wooden floor is preferred by many people. The gentle shine of the protection layer keeps the floor looking clean and bright under all types of conditions. Since the prices on the moisture-resistant laminate flooring can be very reasonable, this is the perfect elegant floor material to consider for people who are on a budget.
