Land Rover Used Cars The Discovery Ii

Land Rover used cars are some of the worlds most sought after sport utility vehicles that people just want to own

. Like many other British luxury car manufactures, Land Rover has been plagued with a bad reputation for reliability over the years and this makes you wonder why this brand is the most prestigious SUV you can own and drive. This luxurious SUV competes in a very competitive market that includes the Hummer H2, Lexus GX 470 and the Mercedes-Benz M-Class just to name a few. In England this particular vehicle is Known as the ''disco'' and so my research will be on this particular SUV as a used vehicle to look at.

I looked at a 2003 Discovery and you notice some of the differences from the first generation model. Some styling differences are the twin pocket headlights, taillight clusters are redesigned, and a complete redesign of the front bumper with round fog lights and new grille. The Discovery ll uses a 100-inch wheel base, it's 76.4 inches tall and is 185-inches long in diameter. All three models use an alloy wheel, the S model has a 16-inch tire and both the SE and HSE trims use a 18-inch tire.

The Discovery seats five people but can go up to seven as an option. The interior for the S Model uses Duragrain upholstery and both the SE and HSE models come standard with leather. The driver seat comes with a power adjustment that sets for eight different ways and the front passenger gets a powered six way adjustment as well. Some other standard equipment that comes with all models are power windows, dual zone automatic climate control, keyless entry, cruise control, rear window wipers and heated power windows.

There are several different fuel statistics for the various engine sizes the Discovery has to offer. The 4.0-litre engine has a fuel rating of 18.5-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 13.4-litres, per 100km for highway driving. The V8, 4.6-litre engine has a fuel rating of 19-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 14-litres, per 100km, for highway driving.

The discovery has two engine sizes. The first engine is a V8, 4.0-litre engine and this produces 188 horsepower with 251 pounds per feet of torque. The second engine is a V8, 4.6-litre engine and this produces 217 horsepower with 300 pounds per feet of torque.

Lets look at some of the pros and cons of the Land Rover Discovery as a used vehicle:

1-The two different engines the Discovery uses have problems with the head gaskets leaking.

2-A leading online consumer watchdog gives the Discovery a bad rating for reliability, as a used vehicle.

3-It was given a four star rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for a crash test done to the driver and passenger area of the vehicle.

I hope this helps if youre looking at Land Rover used cars like the Discovery.
