Landscaping Tips For Spring Cleaning

Landscape spring cleaning is the time of the year in which homeowners get to clean up after a long harsh winter for their lawn

. This means there is much more to do than to simply pull out the lawn mower, dust it off and start it up. In fact, the springtime is the one time of the year that the most attention should be paid to the lawn. Those who have a big yard will want to solicit help by way of their children, neighbors or even a professional lawn service in order to get the job done quickly.

The first tip for spring cleaning in the yard is to remove the winter debris. Winter debris includes leftover leaves from the previous fall. These leaves can be difficult to pick up as they are most likely soggy from the recent snow. It is best not to mow up these leaves with the lawn mower as it can be overwhelming and lead to an unnecessary repair for the overwhelmed mower. Instead, it is best to clean up the leftover leaves with a rake and shovel the remains in a bag to be carried to the dump. Needless to say, it would greatly lessen the work necessary for spring cleaning if homeowners would be sure to rake their leaves before the first snow.

Other forms of winter debris would include tree branches and limbs that have fallen due to heavy snow. Trees that have been strained by the heavy snow and are wilting might necessitate being held up by rope to help them gain their shape back. Also, any remains from snow toys such as sleds and decorations for snowmen should be removed as well. These items could be stored away for next year or donated to the local Salvation Army store.

Weeding will also need to be done for spring cleaning lawn care. Professional landscapers usually have the best equipment for this type of job and can be hired for an inexpensive price. Still, some homeowners take pride in doing the task themselves and prefer to purchase a weed eater from their local home improvement store. It's important to weed around all edges of the yard and fence, along with weeding around any type of rock wall display. Mowing the lawn and spreading fertilizer would be the last steps in spring cleaning for landscaping Maryland. As they say, a job worth doing is worth doing well and those who take care to follow these spring cleaning tips will undoubtedly enjoy beautiful yards in the summer months to come.
