Laparoscopic Is A Good Approach For Weight-loss
These days, obesity is the main health problem for many people
. The percentage of obese individuals across the globe is increasing. It is determined by calculating the BMI (body mass index) value. A person, whose BMI value is 30, is overweight; if it is more than 40, then he or she is enduring morbid obesity or severe obesity. Normally, there are two types of surgeries to treat morbid obesity; they are restrictive and malabsorptive. Based on these procedures, there are many types of surgeries like, Roux En Y gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, intragastric balloon, liposuction, gastroplasty, biliopancreatic diversion, adjustable gastric banding, gastrectomy and many others. These surgeries are done in two methods; they are open surgeries and laparoscopic surgeries. It is the most technical method and it reduces the risks of infections and strictures. It has many benefits when compared to open surgeries like faster recovery and takes less time for operation. Most of the surgeons recommend laparoscopic method as it takes short period of time to recover and also decreases the risk of other health problems.
In this method, surgeons make five to six small incisions (each incision contains or 1 inch long). Through these incisions, a fiber optic tube connected to video camera, light and other surgical instruments is passed. Surgeons view the condition through camera and then conduct the operation. This method does not cause any complications, it is pain free and the patient can get back to work within a week. It contains low complication rate as compared to other open surgeries. Though there might be some after effects, like minor hair loss, vomiting, loose skin, constipation, deficiency of proteins and vitamins and more. But, these all are short lived and can be easily cured.
This method has been very helpful for many obese patients. It has changed their lifestyle and brought them back to their normal size by reducing their stomach size. These weight-loss surgeries are considered safe for all the patients until it is a serious case. Remember, bariatric surgeries are not cosmetic surgeries which are done to people who want to reduce their weight. They are performed to decrease your excess weight, provide less absorption of calories, and reduce the stomach size to make you fit and healthy. After the surgery, to enjoy a healthy lifestyle and to control obesity, make sure you carry out routine exercises, maintain a healthy diet and medically manage the weight-loss and behavior modifications.
