Laptop Covers - From Free To Expensive

Laptop covers were originally just another boring accessory that served an important

purpose - to protect your expensive laptop if you left home or your office with it. They came in black only, and had no frills to worry about. Actually, most of them were just plain ugly. It was your laptop that was meant to get the compliments, not its cover.

As laptops because synonymous with WiFi communication on the go, covers began to make a fashion statement just like shoes, clothes or even our cars. How we covered our laptops became as important as why we needed to cover them to begin with.

Colors became popular and the pink made famous by the breast cancer research movement was seen everywhere. Kids chose bright neon colors made in materials they could write on or attach stickers to. College students frequently bought covers with their school or fraternity insignia and colors.

Companies jumped on the bandwagon and in addition to having coffee cups, pens and notepads made with their company name and logo, they started making laptop covers with the same info.

Heading to a local coffee shop will usually showcase all the latest styles and colors as students and small business owners crowd around with their laptops and fashion statements that range from black to animal prints and even action heroes.

Styles can be found in every price range. The more expensive, the better made and the more bells and whistles. You can buy leather, you can get weather proof material. Add things like pockets for your cell phone or wallet, and additional padding. High end designers have even added GPS systems in case the case is lost or stolen.

Functional models can be easily found for about $15. They might be stylish, but they don't offer much real protection. If you don't plan on putting this inside another case like your briefcase, you may want to reconsider.

Many stores even give them away free with the purchase of laptop.
