Clean
Cleaning your laptop must be done on a regular basis, preferable everyday. Make sure you use a suitable spray on a soft dry cloth or cotton swab and wipe the laptop gently. Keep liquid and eatables away
Most often the reason why laptops get ruined or need repair is due to sheer carelessness on the users part. Make sure you do not eat or drink near the laptop, and keep away especially hot or cold liquids away from the laptop. Do not eat or drink near your laptop as it may lead to a short circuit and permanent damage of your laptop.
Laptop gear
Since your laptop is made for mobility you need to have the appropriate gear to go along with it. When you buy a laptop bag do not compromise on its quality which includes a correct size, easy to clean, cushioned and sturdy bag. You need to protect your bag from scratches, harsh climates and shock (in case you put it down).
Anti virus
Just as you are taking care of the outside of your laptop, you need to take care of what is inside it. Installing an anti-virus and firewall protection software is essential for the health of your laptop. Even if you are not using the Internet much, it is always good if you have adequate protection on your laptop. Update your virus scan software every week.
Back up
It is a mandatory rule to always back up your data. When it comes to laptops there is a huge chance of the hard disk crashing. Check the best method of backing up all your data just in case you meet with an emergency. A monthly back up is often the best method.
Taking care of your hard drive
You should leave plenty of available space in your laptop, in order to let it run efficiently. Try not to store movies and other such large applications on your laptop. Usage
Do not use your lap top in dusty or dirty place; this will make the laptop accumulate dust faster. An airy and fresh place should be fine as long as it is not in direct contact with harsh weather. While using keep your laptop in a safe distance from other electrical gadgets, which might create a strong magnetic field. This may cause irreparable damage to the hard disk along with data loss.
Read the manual
Before cleaning the laptop read through your user manual. This will give you other tips on how to maintain and care for your laptop. You can also check if any of the keys can be removed while cleaning. This is probably the best way to clean your laptop.
