, and because of this, there are literally thousands of computer games available. Blizzard is one of the leaders when it comes to games, and today I will be talking to you about their most recent release Diablo 3.

Anyone who plays games even moderately will have heard about the Diablo series. It is highly unlikely to not have. Diablo has been a foothold in action-Role Playing Games and has even inspired many similar games known as Diablo Clones (see Torchlight). But what makes Diablo 3 stand out? Easy, the fighting and the drops. Diablo 3 is a game where you fire it up and quickly get into the action, slaughtering monsters and finding new loot.
Let's kick this off with talking about the graphical aspect shall we. Diablo games are not renowned for their graphics, but for their action. With that being said, Diablo 3 does have pretty good looks but they instantly shrug off their appeal as soon as you change the view distance. The spell effects are great and are varied a lot between classes, and there are a lot of different mobs.

Gameplay is where Diablo 3 really shines. Diablo 3 has some of the best game-play around, in any game period. It is great fun when you get in a game with three other friends and just start slaughtering enemies like there is no end to them (which there isn't). Champions and Uniques can be great action too, as some variations of them are more powerful than the actual end bosses. This is because Champions and Unique monsters are special monsters that have powers named "affixes". These affixes grant demons special abilities like electrical damage, extra health, freeze, and other abilities. Enemies start with 1 affix and go as high as five in Inferno difficulty.
Treasure Goblins are a fantastic new addition to Diablo 3. The best way to refer to these demons is moving treasure chest or Piata. The reason they are called that is that Treasure Goblins spawn randomly in dungeons and offer no threat to the player, but the player can make the decision to slay them for a reward. As soon as they are hit, the Treasure Goblins will start running all over the map, dropping things along the way. If you manage to kill them they leave behind a whole lot of quality equipment. The downside is that if not killed before a certain time period, the Treasure Goblin will open a portal and escape.
The official word given by Blizzard for the Treasure Goblin is:
He'll randomly and rarely appear in dungeons, but when he does you'll want to beat the candy out of him as he'll drop progressively better loot with each hit. Don't let him escape!.
A lot of things have returned from D2 such as item affixes, elite affixes, random loot, etc. In fact, Diablo 3 is a very luck based game. Magic and Rare loot randomly draw from a pool of affixes (aka magical properties) that dictate how strong and valuable each item} is. Elite monsters also use this system to draw powers for themselves, dictating how tough they are. What this means is that if you are unlucky you could be left with really tough monsters and very bad drops!

The Auction House is a big addition in Diablo 3. It allows players to sell equipment that are bad for their class in order to purchase items that are good. There exists a gold auction house and a real money AH. While I would never use the real money action house (I dont feel players should have to dish out real money to master a game), it is a better substitute for players that fell for such things in Diablo 2. At least the purchases are now secure!
If you happen to be the type of person that enjoys computer games for their PvP (Player versus Player) aspect, you might want to wait before purchasing Diablo 3 as Player versus Player is not available yet (as of writing this article). It should be included soon however.
Sound and dialog is amazing in Diablo 3. The dialog is very professional and is done by established voice actors such as Paul Eiding and Michael Gough. All dialog in Diablo 3 is fully voiced, even minor speech such as background chatter.

Overall I recommend Diablo 3 to pretty much anyone who has ever loved gaming. It is everything you wish for and more, and you can double your experience simply by starting a session with friends.
